The Bacchus Wine International Competition, organized by the Spanish Wine-Taster Association (Unión Española de Catadores (UEC)), is one of the most important wine competitions in the world, backed by the International Organization of Wine and Wine (OIV) and the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions (VINOFED). On this occasion, more than 1,700 wines were judged by 85 tasters from different countries.

Fernando Favela Vara, partner and president of Château Camou, expressed his satisfaction: “Winning these medals in such a prestigious international competition shows that we can make great Mexican wines, which was the life-long dream of my father, one of the founders of our winery. This is a great accomplishment, and it’s the result of the dedicated and enthusiastic work of the entire Château Camou team.”

El Gran Vino Tinto is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot varietals, aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. The Cabernet Sauvignon, made 100% from the varietal, was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels. Both wines come from our vineyard in the Cañada del Trigo. Château Camou, a Mexican winery located in the Valley of Guadalupe, Baja California, is a family-owned company founded in 1994 with the dream of creating great Mexican wines. With more than 20 years’ experience in vineyard and winery, the careful cultivation of the vineyard, outstanding quality in winemaking and the most advanced technology, it has a production capacity of some 7,000 12-bottle-cases per vintage. These medals are the most recent which will be added to the long list of world-wide medals received since 1994, when Château Camou was founded.
